Project six. Thinking skill contextualizing

For this Project, i will be doing a mixed media piece of a top-down view of a Japanese style town. The object is to show the true targets of the nuclear bombs dropped. Their purpose was to end the war, but they were dropped in civilian cities. The idea is to show the calmness and tranquility of these cities/ Towns that were affected by the bombs( rather that is from direct detonation or from radiation spread.) The town will have no likeness to Nagasaki or Hiroshima as they were not the only areas affected. Using ink, watercolor, pastel and acrylic paint i hope to show how the bombs destroyed the lives of civilians. The town will be more of a background and the flames and words will put it into context.

My artist of influence is Tejbir Singh
He is an architect/ artist. He resides in Bahrain since the last 15 years. He uses a lot of sketch pens & pencil /watercolors for his architectural renderings
Examples of his work

I started with using ink to get the base outlines and line work done. The houses came out nicely, the roads left a little to be desired.

I decided to start to work on this in sections. Breaking it up and meshing it together in the end. Today i started working in the top corner area.

I continued this process by moving to the airfield

Then the town.

And finally the railroad station.

The final piece.

All in all, i am very happy with this pice. I haven't had much experience with ink and i haven't used so many materials together with a piece before. I could have definitely used more work on the roads as they are bland and a big eyesore to the piece. I am all in all happy with this piece.

The whole purpose of this piece was to show how peaceful it was before an atomic bomb was dropped on the cities. This piece also illustrates how it may look safe there can be radiation lingering as it's blown from the original strike zones of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I believe i have shown properly the effects of hitting nonmilitary targets. I believe the flags and words are what put this piece truly into context.
